2015 was survived. Now, we’ve got another one to get through.
This year, it is my hope that MEDOUSA will in fact be published. As you may recall from a previous post, I am still waiting to hear whether or not the Virginia Kidd Agency feels confident enough to take a chance on my novel. If they do not, then I shall go on to publish on my own. In any case, it will be another week, possibly ten days, until I know.
I have a few other projects that I do want to work on, almost all of them derivative. There’s an unnecessary sequel to MEDOUSA that I am writing, but am not at all sure I want to publish. I have a SciFi adaptation of the story of Pygmalion that I’d like to write– except that everyone from Mary Shelley to Alex Garland has already done this story, and far better than I’m sure I could. So I’ll need to think about what I could bring to the story that others have not yet brought. I have a few short stories in mind to write, including one about Wonder Woman, seeing as this year marks her 75th anniversary as a character. I may even go back to trying my hand at some poetry.
So, my year is looking full for the time being. I have other, more mundane things I must tend to, of course: Renewing my commitment to martial training (which really took a back seat whilst I was writing my first novel), recovering from a meniscal tear, finding a new job that pays respectably, and, it is to be hoped, let’s me engage in something I enjoy doing, and drawing down my weight and increasing my cardiac health.
But what I’m really looking forward to this year, is publication.
I hope you all have a pleasant New Year, and I hope you all meet with success in your endeavours.
